The Review
Prabhas- Puri Jaganandh’s Ek Niranjan has nothing fresh to offer. Except Prabhas characterization and his performance, Soonu Sood’s performance, and the music by Mani Sharma the film offers nothing. It’s supposed to be a complete entertainer with all typical Tollywood film. But the problem is that the entertaining elements are not mixed properly. The love track is okay. The comedy track is the biggest disappointment. The first half of the film is okay as it depends mostly on entertaining elements. Prabhas’s energetic performance brings lot of entertainment. But it is in the second half the narration starts dragging and also the audience’s patience. The film becomes dull towards it moves climax. Prabhas, Sonu Soon and Mani Sharma are the saving graces of the film. Overall like Bujjigadu, Ek Niranjan is just an ordinary effort from Puri Jagannadh.
Synopsis
Chotu (Prabhas), who lost his parents, grows up helping police to catch thieves. Meanwhile he is looking for his lost parents. Everything is as usual in his life until he meets Sameera (Kangana Ranauth), a music teacher. He starts loving her. Johnny Bhai (Sonu Sood) a local mafia leader kills minister with a hired professional killer. Johnny now wants to eliminate the professional killer as he is the only one who knows about the minister’s murder. Meanwhile Chotu is also after that professional killer as police want him. Who is the professional killer? What’s the link between Johnny and Sameera? Did Chotu find his parents? Is all about the rest of the story.
Artistic Performances
Prabhas comes out with an energetic performance. But his character is just an extension of his character from Bujjigadu. Puri hardly changed his mannerisms and style. Prabhas carried away the character with ease. Dances are also good and as usually he shines at action sequences. No doubt he reaches the masses wit his mass appeal in the performance and his dialogue delivery. Kanagana looks okay. But she justified her role. The added advantage is the sex appeal that she brings through out the film. Soonu Sood steals the show as the gangster. He is at his best. Among others though Bramhanandam, Ali tried their best to bring the relief with their comedy track, the track is not well written. All other actors justified their roles.
Technical Performances
The story has lot of similarities with Bujjigadu with few additional elements. The story is not fresh and the narration is boring in the second half. He failed to come out with a solid screenplay. The only ting is his style of execution. Puri Jagannadh maintained his style through the film, when directing the scenes especially the pace. He is good at this. The dialogues by him are also good here and there. He would have concentrated more on the screenplay, especially the second half and loose climax. Among other departments Mani Sharma comes out with good music. The songs are good and so the background score. Puri also shot the songs perfectly. Action sequences by Stun Shiva are good. Cinematography by Shyam K Naidu is good and so Editing by Varma. All others departments justified their roles.
