No doubt the film is a spectacle to see. The production values are excellent and the film is shot stylishly. But the film fails to impress in other sections- the story, the screenplay. The message is good but the commercial elements are not placed and executed in a perfect manner. Technically Mallana is excellent but the content is missing. The action sequences, songs are good on the screen but the lack of the content makes them boring.  The other major draw back is the comedy section. Overall Mallanna is an okay film with very sound in technical aspects. The story and screenplay is disappointing. Success at the box office ……. Its is very difficult thing. Synopsis   CBI Officer Mallanna (Vikram) is like a Robin Hood. He keeps distributing the money that he caught during the raids to the poor. Anyone who needs help writes it and posts it at Mallanna temple. Every one thinks that the Lord is helping them. But it is Mallanna, who keeps helping the. Mallanna conducts raids on PPP (Ashish Vidyardhi) and after that PPP vows to take revenge on Mallanna. Subbalakahsmi (Shriya), daughter of PPP pretends to fall in love with Mallanna.  Meanwhile the search is on to find Mallanna.  How did Mallanna caught? What happened latter? What happened to Subba Lakshmi plans? Is all about the rest of the film. Artistic Performances Vikram steals the show with various get ups. As CBI officer as Mallanna, as a lady, as an old Sadhu and as a Pizza delivery boy Vikram he is okay. The problem is that his characters and is performance lacks the emotional quotients. But Vikram did fine job of what he has been given. He is excellent in his dances and action sequences. Shriya sizzles in this film with her best oomph factor. From her best glamour appearance to kiss scene Shriya sizzles. As a senior CBI office, who helps Mallanna, Krishna justified his role.  Ashish Vidyardhi also impresses with his performance.  All others justified their roles. Mumaith Khan, shines in a hot remix song. Technical Performances Though director Susi Ganeshan made it very stylishly he failed in the screenplay. The story is also okay but not good. What the director did was the commercial package. He succeeded to some extent but failed in narrating is story in an effective way.  The highlight of the film is the stylish cinematography by N K Ekambaram. Music by Devi Sree Prasad is okay. The background score is excellent but the songs are average. Even the visuals of the songs are also not impressive. Another major thing that happened to Mallanna is its producer. Producer Kalaipuli Thanu is at his best. The production values and visuals are great. Among other technical departments editing is disappointing.
